As I sit typing this there is a light dusting of snow accumulating on the ground. I'm sure the novelty will wear off fast enough, but for now I love looking out the window and watching the snowflakes fall. At least we are prepared this year and actually own a snow shovel!! Since the entire town of Reno was sold out of snow shovels last year, had it not been for our kind neighbors I don't think we would have left the house for a week!! ;) Of course you can imagine how excited Andy is to see the snow. He can't wait to get up on the mountain for some boarding, but unfortunately up until today one crucial thing has been missing...the snow!!
As promised I was up and out of the house before the sun rose yesterday. Andy set the alarm for 4:30 and I managed to be at Walmart by 5:00 a.m. I picked up a few DVD's for $3.44 each and then headed to Circuit City for more DVD's. At $8 a movie we finally bought the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings series (and a few others). The lines there were unbelievable and I just happend to luck out and find a line that just opened, had I stayed in my orginial line I'm sure it would have taken over an hour to check out. Evidentally people spent the night outside of Circuit City in hopes of obtaining a voucher to purchase a notebook computer for $199 (with free printer and wireless router) or an E-machines desktop for FREE!!! I don't think you will find any better deals, but even so I can't imagine sleeping outside of Circuit City in Reno (or anywhere else for that matter)! After Circuit City I went to Michaels were I picked up 3 lighted spiral trees for $20. I'm really excited as I have wanted something nice to put in our front yard for a while now, but haven't wanted to spend a hundred dollars for something I will use 1 month out of the year. After Michaels I made a very quick stop at Best Buy. As soon as I realized that the line wrapped around the entire store I was out of there. Nothing could be worth standing in a line like that!!! Then it was to the mall where I spent a few minutes and decided once again, the wait wasn't worth the deals I was getting. From the mall I ran over to the JCPenny homestore which was so nice....not many people, no long lines and some really great deals. After that I made my final stop at Kohl's where I spent most of my time. Most of their clothes were 60% off, plus I had an extra 15% off coupon so I picked up a few tops for myself and a really cute and comfy outfit for Bella to wear on Christmas day. All of that and I was home just after 10 a.m. All in all it was a fun 5 hours of early morning shopping! I got a few good deals and enjoyed a few hours of shopping by myself. It's amazing how quickly I can get in and out of a store without a 3 year old!! ;)
How was everyone's Thanksgiving?? Ours turned out really nice! We are so blessed to have such great friends in our life! We had a lot of fun hanging out, eating good food and enjoying eachothers company. My turkey turned out just fine and the highlight of my food preparation was that for the first time ever I was successful in making gravy (I've tried several times before and haven't even come close). We sent everyone home with leftovers, but still have more food than we know what to do with. I'm making turkey soup tonight and will use up the meat and some of the veggies, but I think we need to have everyone back over just to finish off the leftovers!
