Platy Fry!

Or better known as baby fish are the latest addition to the McMinn household! On Monday we ventured to the fish store to get an algae eater and left with 2 algae eaters, 2 striped fish that Bella liked and a frog. We got them situated in their new environment and watched them closely to make sure the 3 fish we already had welcomed them. Later that evening I noticed that one of the algae eaters was already dead (what is it with me and fish??) and the frog wasn't looking too good. I scooped up the fish to flush and was going to flush the frog when Andy convinced me I shouldn't flush him partially alive. As I was doing all of this I noticed the tiniest little movement down by the rocks and upon closer inspection saw 2 pairs of beaty eyes staring back at me...we had baby fish! Unsure if they would make it to the morning we didn't tell Bella, but they must be hearty little guys because they were still hanging out the next day. I got a breeding net and transfered them into their safe haven where they will stay until they are bigger than the other fishes mouthes. Bella is of course thrilled with her baby fish and if the swelling belly of one of the other platties is what I think it is, we will probably have more soon. So now we have 3 adult platties, 2 platy fry, 2 striped fish (don't know what they are called), 1 algae eater and 1 frog...oh yeah, and a Beta in Bella's room!

Back to the frog...the next morning when I looked in the tank it was zooming around and has been fine ever since. Do frogs sleep?? Whatever it was doing I swear it looked like it was dying. ;) Little does it know it owes it's life to Andy!!!
