Happy 1st Birthday Jacob!

Our sweet baby boy turns one today!  It's so hard to believe that it was a whole year ago that we saw him for the first time.  The dark hair he was born with has turned into a beautiful head of curly light brown hair, he takes after his sister Chloe with his deep brown eyes, but reminds us so much of his biggest sister Bella with the facial expressions he makes, and he has recently decided to be a really big boy and walk all on his own.  We love him more than we ever imagined we could and still find it hard to believe that God saw fit to bless us with such a precious son (let alone 2 beautiful daughters).

Happy 1st Birthday Jacob Eugene McMinn!  You are the sweetest baby boy our family could have ever imagined we'd have.  Thank you for making us smile, for giving us wet sloppy kisses, for raising your arms as high as you can in the air to show us "how big" you are, and most importantly for just being YOU! 

We love you with all our hearts!

Happy Mom's Day!

Without a doubt these little ones in this picture are the biggest blessings in my life (and their daddy of course...without him I wouldn't have them). I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a mama. I know it's a privilege that not everyone has and I hope I never take for granted just how special each one of my children are.

Saturday Morning Treat

Thanks to my new Pinterest addiction and one very helpful 4 year old, we enjoyed a delicious Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake for breakfast. I even snapped a few pictures as we put it together...

Blogging on the go

For a myriad of reasons I have decided to "unplug" myself from the world of Facebook and return to the good old days of blogging. My only concern was loosing the ability to share a picture or quick update while on the go, but after a quick search in the app store I discovered that there was no need to worry because "there's an app for that!" ;). I've downloaded the Blogger app and now I can share pictures and quick updates from my phone.

This of course is my first official "on the go" post and I'm even going to attempt to add a picture to see if I can figure this whole thing out.

On August 26th at 9:24 p.m. we became a family of 5...

3 days after Jacob was born Bella started 4th grade and Chloe started Pre-Kindergarten...

In early August Chloe ran into a glass window and cracked her front tooth. After x-rays it was determined that she had cracked her front tooth and infection had set in. After a round of antibiotics and a little time to let the soreness subside, she had to have it extracted. In classic Chloe form she took a terrible spill on the asphalt two days before her appointment which left her with a black eye and a missing front tooth. Love this girl... ;)

Bath time!

Jacob got his first official bath today. His umbilical cord came off 2 days ago and it's taken us a little time to get around to actually bathing him. I'm pretty sure that mere minutes passed between the time the girls' cord fell off and when we had them in their first bath...poor 3rd child! ;)

Needless to say, he did great and after a few scowls initially settled in and enjoyed his bath time. I have to say there is nothing quite like cuddling up to a freshly washed baby and smelling their sweet baby smell...I just love it!

With Bella's help I managed to snap a few pictures and here is one of our little man enjoying the water...

A few stats...

Jacob had his first follow up appt. at 4 days old and he weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. -- down 9 ounces from his birth weight. His length and head circumference stayed the same.

A week later (yesterday) at 11 days old he had gained 13 ounces putting him at 8 lbs. 10 oz. Length and head circumference were the same still which means he's just getting chubbier. Looks like mama's milk has been doing it's job!

Other than that, he's as healthy as can be. He's still so incredibly content and such a little love.
